Very SLOW Galaxy Tab 3 8" with original Android 4.2.2

So, my Tab 3 8" has become very slow and it has never been updated, it still has the original 4.2.2. because I intentionally disabled updates because it used to run fast and perfect.

It is 20 months old now and it is in perfect mint condition without any hits, falls, nothing, always to read in bed. This is not relevant, I know, but to make clear it never even fell down and crashed or something.

I bought a Galaxy S3 some months earlier and it also became slow as a turtle around month 20 to the same point of being hard to use and it also kept the original Android 4.1.2.

I have formatted and reset it to factory a couple of times and it is SLOW from the moment you start it. So it is not any app.

I have also disabled all possible things that make it slow such as the energy saving features and so on. I have googled and tried some advices, but it doesn't help at all.

My impression is that these Samsung machines are programmed to stop working after 20 months... which is a robbery.

Any idea or suggestion, please. I still have 4 months warranty but I guess Samsung or Amazon will do nothing about it and I fear Samsung will force-install Android 4.4 KitKat, which I want to avoid at all cost because it loses the text reflow and forced zoom that I use a hell of a lot in Boat Browser.

Thank you,

It could be a defective device. I would certainly get a replacement since you are still under warranty, but if you want some old features then you are out of luck.

I will call Samsung on monday, but they will probably say they don't find it slow and will do nothing but installing KitKat, which I definetely don't want for not losing reflowed text and forced zoom.

I hate it, really. Why do Samsung devices deteriorate so much and nobody complains? It should last a lifetime.

No current or past smartphone lasts a lifetime. I had problems with iPhone running super slow too... Apple didn't care either.

But had you updated the software of the iPhone?

Because mine still has the same it had when I bought it and run fast 18 months ago. I don't see what reason could be other that some parts degrading for the use...

I had the latest software available on the iPhone at the time.

There could be some sort of a software glitch. I have heard of similar situations where a replacement device ran much better.

That's what I mean. When you update the operating system is normal that it gets slower, but not when you keep the original and fast one.

It depends... On my note 5, it got faster after it got the marshmallow update. I have noticed similarly updating other phones from KitKat to lollipop.

Well let's see, I finally took it to repair and the guy said it's probably the motherboard, which they'll replace under my warranty. Let's see if it gets better, but he said I couldn't keep 4.2.2 because the new motherboard will come with KitKat, meaning I'll lose the text reflow and forced zoom, which seriously makes me angry because I use it a lot.

These things do not get slow because of mechanical problems but get loaded down with software. Empty all the cashes you can find and delete all software that run all the time. Battery monitors, antivirus software, sound enhancers, tracking software, memory managers and then delete all the apps you do not use weeklly. Then do a restart. Let us know how tht works out!
