Very strange bluetooth issue

My wife and I have the note 8. When I call her in her 2018 Honda odyssey on her bluetooth she has to raise the volume all the way up to hear me. When others call her in her van she hears them fine at less then half the volume.
I reset network settings on my phone and hers but no luck. It only does this when I call her or she calls me when she's in her van on bluetooth.

Hmm. I know with my car- 2017 Charger, when I connect by Bluetooth, I have to turn it way up for calls and for streaming music, but have to be careful to turn it back down when I disconnect because if I don't, the stock radio will be blaring far, far too loudly. For me, the streaming and calls I have the volume usualyl around 20-30, but if it's for radio or for the car to notify me of text messages, it's 12-14.
