Very Underwhelmed

Compared to the updates and features of the S10, the LG G8 seems very underwhelming, IMHO. The hand gestures is really gimmicky and not something I'd use. I also don't usually play sound from my phone's speaker so the vibrating display audio isn't something I'd use either. Sorry LG, I'm probably going to update my G6 to the Samsung S10.

If you wait a couple of months or so G8 will be much cheaper than even S10E. Pretty good buy around $450-500.

Give me a break! Aside from the infinity display there is nothing that differentiates the S10 from the G8.

-in display finger print sensor
-8gb of Ram
-128 base storage
-triple camera
-powers share charging

None of those things are on the S8

One thing I've learned owning several LG devices, look past the gimmicks. The stupid no touch gestures. Reading hemoglobin. Apart from that, you're getting one hell of a phone. It'll perform like a beast and by all accounts the display is fantastic. I'm treating my Samsung phones the same way I did my LG phones. Uninstall/disable everything I don't use. Turn off the features I don't use. Throw a launcher on and I'm good to go.

None of those things are on the S8

-Capacitive sensor works just fine
-8gb is still excessive for a phone. 6gb or even 4gb has never held me back. And we're talking weeks of uptime.
-so then just buy a MicroSD card or use cloud storage. Should be using one or both of them anyway.
-Still exclusive to the V series phones
-
who gives a flying fvck about power share charging? Just drains your own battery.

-But again, none of those features are on the S8, going against your original point.

-I shouldn't have to buy an SD card, and won't due to sufficient storage.

-8gb of Ram is not excessive. 6 should be the minimum.

And I care about Power share as I will use it to charge my Buds. Just because you don't care about something, doesn't mean everyone else will agree.

Anyway, this isn't about the new Galaxies. It's about the G8, which looks like a solid phone, and I'm not sure it needs all the gimmicks.

When is this released? Sick of phones not being available to pre-order after announcing them.

-Even if you have sufficient storage it's still wise to use a MicroSD card and/or the cloud. Something can always happen that will cause you to lose everything.

-I didn't say that I didn't agree with them. I just said that those features can be gimmicks too. I don't see how people could have those Bluetooth buds as the sound quality will never be as good as a wired solution.

-4GB is fine for the new minimum. It's never held me back as I would sometimes do video editing on my V30 that had 4GB of RAM. It performed well and my V40 with 6GB is even better, especially after weeks of uptime where the V30 would begin to slow down.

The main differentiator between the S10s and the G8 is that the S10s are in the shops while the G8 is very quickly becoming a memory. Everyone'll have spent their post MWC money on an S10, Xiaomi 9 or Huawei P30 pro (which although not even announced is likely to be available before the G8). I'd bet that even OnePlus will release the 7 before the G8 is available globally. I for one would choose the G8 for the hand ID, it would be useful to me, but it's likely that once released the S10s will have had a decent price drop and the rumoured lowish price of the G8 will no longer be so attractive. LG are their own worst enemy, and if they ever sit round a table and ask themselves why they sell so few, they should first look at their release schedules.

The last LG phones I had we're 2x V20s. They were nice phones and were nice looking. I liked them but LG just hasn't put out anything since that would sway me from Samsung and that's just unfortunate.

Nobody has come out with anything to make me move on from my V20, either.

Where is the phone?

LG are keeping the phones in a warehouse until the right planets line up / a dog with two heads is born / Donald Trump's hair takes flight / the Premiership title race has been decided / the tide goes out. One, a combination, or all of these are the deciding factors for the release date of the G8. If indeed it actually exists.

Well nothing underwhelming when carriers give you best deal.

I'm using s10E and I would love to grab the killer deal.
