Viaprotect suddenly gobbled up 3 GB data!

Aloha, I have had Viaprotect installed for about a month, and never had an issue. All of a sudden on Friday I received alerts that I exceeded my data usage. I checked the data usage monitor, and Viaprotect was at the top, with just over 3 GB usage. On Thursday, my total usage was at about .130 GB total. I immediately forced shutdown of Viaprotect, and uninstalled it. Anybody else?

After reading the reviews of this app on Google Play it sounds like this is a malicious app that uses your data for its own use.. Go to the app on GP and read the reviews then report it to Google..
If you want a security app use the best...Lookout...

I just responded to your comment on Google Play. I apologize for the excessive data use. We released a new version of the app last week and there was a nasty bug that kept uploading the same bit of data over and over again. We worked through the weekend, fixed the bug, pushed a new version of the app (1.3.3) and, as you can imagine, already made internal changes to ensure something like this NEVER happens again.

I just downloaded Viaprotect and all I can say is wow!

This is "the app" I have been looking for.

I got the warm fuzzies all over though when it first installed and inspected my S5.

It gave me a 100 for Security and Safety.

Mahalo for the quick response. I will no doubt monitor the reviews for a while before considering trying it again. It did provide useful information to raise awareness of issues with other apps.

For me, I was not concerned about trying it out at all.

If you note my signature, when my phone is asleep, so is the internet, nothing can use up data when my phone is asleep, nothing at all. There is not internet to access....

I catch rogue apps in a hurry that way, also makes the battery last forever while the phone is idle.
