Viber texts - charge on your phone bill?

It is my understanding the Viber uses your existing phone number to make calls and texts? If so, do the text messages still count against you on your regular cell bill? For instance, those that don't have a text plan, will texts sent out and received on your number be charged on your bill? I use a Google Voice number for this very reason but still get yahoos that text me on my old number, which costs me every time they text me.

You won't get charged if the people you send txts to are also on Viber.. that is my understanding.

Thanks. Yeah, I guess the key is whether the other person also has Viber. I loaded it onto my phone and set it up and it sent a text to my cell plan. Oh well.
