Vibrate on email/sms notification

My phone used to do this, and now it randomly does not. I can't find a setting to restore this functionality either. Help?

I think all those settings are under 'Menu->Settings->Sound & Display'

The only setting in there is "vibrate for incoming calls". No option for notifications.

menu in the relevant app (in messages or in the email app)

go to settings, there is options for notifications in there.

notifications are handled by each app on their own
