Vibration not alerting on watch 3

I realize this isn't a watch forum but thought one of you experts could help. I have a n20u and watch3. The vibration alerts on the watch are perfect except for Samsung Messages. A visual alert is on the watch but it won't vibrate for whatever reason. Can someone please help me?

In Message app settings on the phone, chat setting, change from default messaging type from auto to text. Also, vibrate on phone for new messages is required to get vibration in watch. The key to silencing vibration on the phone is to simply turn the vibration motor down to zero in Sounds.
