Video call on samsung S6

I use hangouts

Whichever app you use on Android, the other person has to have the same App installed, right?

This is one area where iOS has it all over Android (along with iMessage) as all iPhone users will have the same apps.

What made you switch?

I think it depends on how you look at it. I personally like the idea of being able to choose what apps are installed on my phone vs. having them placed there by default, no matter how useful I'm told they are. (Just look at how many people lost their **** when they found out Facebook was auto-installed on the S6. I'd imagine not *everyone* uses or wants to use FaceTime.)

I get the convenience part of FaceTime being installed for all, but I guarantee if carriers did the same with Android and say Hangouts you'd hear more complaining than praise.

Not being argumentative - just saying different strokes for different folks.

There's a lot of people out there (grandparents, busy moms, the technically challenged, etc) who would never be able to video call or end pics\videos via MMS without facetime and iMessage. Believe me I am no Apple fan but they do a few things better and easier than Android.

back to my question...if you want to do video calling involving between android or android-ios, then both parties need to use the same app, correct?

I'll agree that they do things easier and better for people that don't know much about tech. For the rest of us, it's less of a bottleneck.

But yes, to answer your question, both parties will need the same app regardless of app or platform relationship (iOS to Android, Android to Android, iOS to iOS).

Yes. Which causes lots of issues because most iPhone users have never heard of these other apps and/or won't (or can't figure out how) to install them.

From personal experience.
