Video chat very choppy ?

My Wife and I both have the new Nexus-S, and we have tried out the video chat option several times this past week. And every time it is choppy as hell, and super low res, can barely even see each other. Feels like it is moving at 1 frame per second.

I have tried it with us both on 4G, with good signals, and still lag fest. Anyone else have this issue ?

Not to compare, but my Sister has the iPhone4, and I have used it to talk to my niece, and the picture is very crisp / clear, and was pretty smooth and fluid.

its always been like this I tried it and its choppy even on my evo its choppy.....have you tried it over wifi?

well if your using over 3G/4G you cannot compare to Iphone4 because if I'm not mistaken, Face Time is over WIFI only right? So thats gonna be your faster and better connection. I've tried the Video Chat with my Nexus S over 3G and with my other Gtalk acct through Gmail and it worked great, Audio was crisp and video was very impressive.

I have tested both qik and google talk and google talk was very crisp clear and fast but qik was slow and laggy and choppy. Haven't tries Skype yet...oh yea and both were over wifi since I am one of those experiencing the signal issues (for the record my wifi is weak as well)

I just bought 2 as well. And here is my conclusion.

Qik, Fring, Tango, Garbage. Even on wifi. Low res. Choppy. Messed up audio. Couldn't use. (Epic 4g).

Nexus S Gtalk on 3g. Decent Res. Smooth. Maybe a skip here and there depending on service. Wifi, CLEAN!. (Res as best as this camera is capable of). 3g to computer and wifi to computer. Excellent as well. I have had no issues with.

Yeah, I noticed earlier when I was on 3G (good signal in SF, CA) and my gf was on WiFi on her computer, it was so smooth and no choppiness. Better yet? The audio is OUTSTANDING. Many of you fail to mention the top caliber that the audio is.

I had given up on video chat through cellphone. Thought it was waste of time till this.

Video chat on my EVO through Qik wasn't the greatest. And I have never used Google Talk on a smartphone, but I can say FaceTime on the iPhone is flawless. Love it and use it all the time.
