My preference as an AT&T user is the original Visual Voicemail application over the AT&T messages app. The latter tries to combine all of your call lists, text messages, voicemails, etc in one. Some people rather retain control over their text messages. You can disable notifications, but I know at one point it would still semi interfere with other messaging applications.

did you consider Google Voice "LITE"? i think it's so much better. (you don't have to port or integrate your number to GV to use it).

Google Voice is nice for some, but it's not available in all areas and if you happen to already have a Google Voice number being forwarded to your cell you can't use it as a voicemail replacement as you would have to give up that forwarding link.

1. if you're on AT&T you're in the USA and hence Google Voice is available to you.
2. just set up a second Google Voice number for your voicemail.

'Tis true, my point was you seem to copy and paste that post about Google Voice in every voicemail thread, and while it's great that you're a big fan of it, others may prefer their carrier voicemail for various reasons. Clearly the OP is aware of Google Voice for voicemail, as his second video is showing how to remove it.

2. This doesn't work. You can only have one Google Voice number linked to a cell number and you can't forward a Google Voice number to another Google Voice number. Therefore, if you are forwarding an existing Google Voice number (lets say for small business purposes) to your personal cell then you cannot also use Google Voice Lite as voicemail for your personal cell number - as that would be linking two Google Voice numbers to one cell number.

it's not clear to me that he's aware of or using GV "LITE" in the second video. your points are all moot.

1. GV Lite is simply call forwarding for voicemail. If you watched the video he is showing how to remove the call forwarding. The only way to use GV for voicemail on AT&T is to use the Lite version or port your cell number to Google Voice - at which point you wouldn't be on AT&T anymore. So it seems clear he was aware of it.
2. But even if you are correct that he was unaware of GV Lite, how is my second point "moot"?
