Video Hangouts Tiny!

My Google Hangouts video is about 1.5" square, looks more like a thumbnail and the rest of my screen is black. Is that how it's supposed to be?

the image you appear in is the 1.5 ish square. the party you are video chatting with should appear in the section you describe as the rest of the screen being black. this would be reversed on the other party's screen where they would see themselves in the 1.5 box and see you on the remainder of the screen.

Thank you, I get it now.

I was apprehensive about Hangouts because Google's desktop version of the plugin uses 80% CPU.
