Video! How to Install GummyCharged Gingerbread 2.1

Thank's for pointing me in that direction. disable lockscreen was not checked, however; I changed it from SGII to puzzle unlock and it started working. Interesting. Gtalk is still acting weird.

I had the same problem.

I only have one other issue with this rom - people have been reporting that the status bar is force closing (supposedly thanks to TSM) which comes back either randomly or via reset. The problem is, the lock screen is disabled completely when the status bar is closed. Meaning when it crashes, your phone will not lock until the status bar loads up again. That and the above are the only real issues I've had so far, but the last one is pretty big IMO.

It has been 15 days since I started running GummyCharge 2.1 on the Droid Charge. Feel free to follow my link to my full review. But in a nutshell here it is...

Positive:
Snappiness is excellent and the best I have seen yet.
Battery life is 3/4 better than stock.
General appearance and features are very customizable

Negative:
2 battery pulls needed in 15 days (no big deal as I am a very demanding user)
Requires a fair amount of setup upon first start to include clock, bat percent, etc...
Gtalk not always showing correct status

What do you think?

I did like the snappiness. But, I have gone to the EP1W debated build. Or maybe it was EP1Q...I can't remember. I'm running 2.3.4.

David,

Thanks for the reply. I have decided to take a even more active role in all this Android jazz. I plan to test every build I can get my hands on and then review them to include blogs and videos. As an example the Droid Charge has so much potential as proved by these various ROMs. I feel that everyone should get the most out of their phone purchase.

Couple of questions, I have a DC and I had gummycharge 2.0 before then I updated to 2.1 but I kept getting random reboots, so after searching on the forums I found that it was because of CWM I had the old version (cwm 4.0) so I rooted back to stock and started over but when I downloaded the new CWM 5.0 I was able to root the phone but now when I go back into recovery its not going into CWM.... So my question is should I still use CWM 4.0 or look for a newer version? Also when I do root to gummycharge 2.0 then to 2.1 I have the stock radio is it necessary to flash to get the EP1 radio or is the EP4 radio ok? Thanks for your time.

This maybe a very dumb question - but is there any way to rearrange the order of the applications on the menu screens?

:( Hi I have hit a brick wall and want suggestions (?)

I tried rooting the Droid Charge last night and could not get to Gummy charge because-->

1) I can't for the life of me find a way to write to the internal SD card.
2) When phone is plugged in to USB on the PC, only the external card can be read and written to.
3) I find this tiny CDrom drive with some verizon files on it, but I can't write to it either.
4) I tried superoneclick and all those cheats, but it can't root the SU binary (?)

So then I went nuclear and flashed clockwork mod with Odin and it worked, version 4.0.... something BUT

5) the Samsung logo keeps bootlooping
6) clockwork mod can not read the external SD card with the Gummy ROM
7) I can't find instructions on how to install Gummy charge from ODIN instead of CWM ???

All I could do after 5 hrs was flash back the factory image for the Charge and lost my local wifi connectivity and am now stuck to 3G instead of 4G....

Thanks to anyone with suggestions:

Maurice :(

Maurice,

First I wanted to let you know that GummyCharge is no longer supported for the Droid Charge. It is setup on an older software base. Depending on what you are doing you may loose some antenna connections such as wifi or even cell tower unless you use Gummy over an older kernel.

As for getting GummyCharge to your phone... all you should do is navigate to the GummyCharge link of choice via your phone. Click the link to download and it will be placed in your download folder all ready for your to flash via ClockWorkMod.

Make sure you are using a version of Clockwork that works with the kernel you have and plays nice with GummyCharge. Off the top of my head and I cannot remember which version was best.

My suggestion is to use one of the current ROMs out there. And then you can theme over it if you like. The two that are currently updated are TweakedStock by imnuts and Eclipse. Make sure you are using the most updated versions for FP1. Older ones will again give you trouble unless you set your phone to an older state.

Best of luck...
Dave
