Video not playing

I've had my M8 for about a week. Everything seemed to be working pretty well until yesterday. All of a sudden videos in the stock browser and the Facebook app won't play anymore. In the FB app it just gives a warning that the video could not be played. In the browser when I tap on the play button it just goes straight to the collage of videos like the end of youtube videos. They play fine in the Chrome browser, but not on FB and stock browser. Any suggestions?

On the stock browser, do the videos play if you request the full desktop site?

My first thought to try and fix it was to uninstall/reinstall FB. I couldn't do that though, because FB came preinstalled. So I cleared the data and resigned in to see if that would work. It didn't. Then I decided to uninstall all updates to see what happened because I remembered my FB app autoupdated recently. That seemed to fix both problems with videos not playing. I can understand that affecting how the FB videos worked, but not that it would fix the browser problem too, but it did. Now I'm stuck with a really old version of FB, but at least videos are playing now. Thanks for the tip though. I'll bookmark the link just in case I need it for something else.
