Video playback is much smaller than original

In order to free up some space I uploaded some videos to Google Drive, but now when I play them back they are really small and centered in the screen. Regardless of the player I use, the built in player is my preferred choice but when I play right from Drive it doesn't make a difference. Not ALL my videos are like this, mainly the older ones. I already tried clearing cache.

This is what some older videos end up looking like

This is what they should look like

Welcome to Android Central! First, just to be sure--you've uploaded these videos to Google Drive, and not Google Photos?

Second--how long have you waited after uploading before trying to view them online? I have found that with videos, it sometimes takes a little while for Google Photos to stream the video in full resolution. It might be some kind of optimization that's taking place. Not sure if the same thing happens with Drive, but it's probably similar.

It depends on what you do with the backups. I think Photos has a nicer layout, and there are some good photo editing tools there as well. There's actually a setting in your Google Drive website that will add a Google Photos folder to your Google Drive, and conversely there's a setting in your Google Photos site that will add your photos that are stored on Google Drive--so you can see that they both converge. See here for more information: https://support.google.com/drive/answer/6156103?hl=en

Have the videos become full resolution yet?

Okay thank you, I just like Google Drive better for some reason, but no... some videos are still small... any other suggestions?

You mentioned these smaller videos are mostly older ones--were they taken by the same device that also took the newer videos? Or was it an older phone?

If you play the video on Google Drive on your computer, is it also really small?
