Video Player on Tab 2 different than S-4

The VIDEO PLAYER on my Tab 2 will not play some files but the VIDEO PLAYER in my Galaxy S-4 will. Both of them are listed as version 1.1. The player on my S-4 has on screen volume and zoom controls but the player on the Tab 2 does not! Any way to upgrade to the newer version or can someone recommend a good video player.

Looking at the feedback on the app store is nearly a waste of time. These developers get all their friends to post a 5 star rating but the real feedback will tell a different story. Any recommendations?

Are the video files not being played on the Tab 2 stored in Internal Storage or the microSD card? To make sure it's not an SD card problem, test it out with the video file in Internal Storage.

MX Player is one of the best video player apps around, I think.

The files were on the SD card and a USB Thumb drive. They played on my S-4 but not on the Tab-2. I transfered a couple files to the SD card and they would not play there.

I have been playing with MX Player and it looks promising!

Do the files work if played from Internal Storage of the Tab 2?
