Video player suggestions please

I've been using Android for some years but I'm stumped over this.

I need a video player that will work with my old tablet, Lenova tab 2, and has playback speed option of more than x2 speed. Not skipping, and preferably not a slide control, just playback speed.

I've been reduced to downloading and testing players one by one and I'd love some suggestions instead! Please!!

Give "VLC" a try. It will play just about every file type and has lots of playback options.
I cannot comment on the tablet compatibility.

I would recommend VLC too. It should support Android 5.0+, it's open source and has a lot of playback features.

VCL is pretty versatile.

I have used VLC, usually for audio, so I installed it on said tablet to test it. It's much better than anything I've tried before this. It says it can go 4x playback speed but it freezes at 4x. It does play at 3.5x so that's a start. Thanks to you all, I should have thought of VLC myself!
