[VIDEO] Samsung Galaxy S5 Dead - Water Damage

Exactly.

The video is to raise awareness. I've dealt with customers that don't grasp most of these concepts very well. I own 5 GoPros. I know what equipment to use for different applications.

I don't think a few people are getting it.

I think most consumers will be aware that they can't go swimming with the phone at the local gym and it will still be fine after.

Key word here is "most" That being said, you know how you hear things from your friend and it gets embellished. "dude, it's like totally water proof man...you can like go swimming and talk under water pics and stuff"

Isn't that that waterproof phone? Lol.

The S4 Active actually had some issues from the factory and AT&T / Samsung were doing one time courtesy replacements. The demonstration in video 2 was done stock to show that there are probably no issues from the factory with the stock design.

Well, if people were still wondering about it - now they know.

If Samsung doesn't make it themselves, don't stick it inside your phone.

There are people that are willing to trade their IP67 capabilities for wireless charging. I know from the XDA threads. Unfortunately the Samsung OEM cover will make it impossible to use in about 90-95% of cases on the market.

Aftermarket QI receivers have been used by many in a variety of Samsung Galaxy devices.

I thought the phone is being advertised as water resistant? ??? Not waterproof.

If I wanted to take underwater photos I'd by a "waterproof" camera.

Nothing is water proof. It's only water resistant to a certain level including 10k dive watches

Just curious what cases the OEM Qi back cover will work with?

I actually never got an OEM charging back for the S5. I'd seriously take one video if it and discard it.

My wife can't go around without a case especially with our daughter.

I did test the S4 with OEM back and only used it once. It fit a few cases but barely. I think one was the Trident Aegis series and maybe an Incipio DualPro.

OK well I was hopeful. I've actually ordered both the OEM and aftermarket Qis (TYLT VU). The one I don't use I'll sell on ebay...

I've never understood the hype over wireless charging, you still have to have plugged in power pad, and you need to buy a new back plate for the phone, then you have set the phone properly on said Matt! I just can't see the convenience, while I just plug a cord into my phone and Walla it charges!

SENT FROM MY LG G-FLEX......LIFE IS GOOD✌

Well different strokes for different folks. You do have the convenient of just setting it on the pad to charge without having to plug it in. Also the fact that you don't have to fumble around trying to get the USB cover to open, not only that, many have reported that the USB cover seems to break easily.

The only thing that I never understood about the hype over wireless charging is the thickness of the cover and how cases don't fit over it. Which I do prefer to use a case over a naked phone.

Isn't the Sony Xperia Z series advertised as waterproof?

Yeah... I looked it up and see "waterproof" being used pretty often.

A risky move, but they won't move nearly as many units as Samsung.

How about adding a nano coating? I just threw another device in the water...

Chris, quick question. In one of your pictures of the back of your cell, is the small red circle in the middle of the square the water damage indicator? Thanks in advace!
