So what settings should i use to take full advantage of the x's screen when converting dvds?

Ive messed with it before, buy never super good quality no want to make sure i get the most out of this beast.

Thanks!

Thanks. Could you be a bit more specific?

Ive played around with Videora, but ive heard Handbrake is better.

If you know either of those programs, can you be more specific in what settings to set, or is resolution the only factor?

I think the screen is actually 854x480 (according to the Moto website). Generally MP4 is a decent format to use since it works with most everything and often has hardware decode support.

I haven't used either of those programs, but I'll be keeping an eye on the DVDFab forum for posts like these, until then I've been using a Droid profile with a few minor edits.

I concur with this poster, Im not a mac user however.

Thanks guys. Im messing with Handbrake now, but it wont let me set the res over 720x480. Could it be because the DVD im using is full frame, not widescreen?

Use Handbrake it will be the best and easiest. Remember that your output resolution will only be as good as your input resolution. With handbrake I set mine at the maximum resolution it will let me and then go to the audio tab and set the sample rate in khz to 40 and the bitrate to 128kbps. This setting helped the audio and video be in sync. And yes. .mp4 will be the best format

Standard def DVD resolution is lower than the Droid X screen resolution, so you can't encode them to that size. It does sort of put in perspective just how good the screen is on your X though, doesn't it?

Thanks. So what your saying is, no matter what, I wont be able to get full screen on the X. If 720x480 is the best I can get, I can live with that. I dont have any, but I wonder if a Bluray would allow for full res?

Easily, but blu-rays are not as easy to rip due to next-gen copy protection.
