Video switches to speaker logo during playback, plays only sound

[Android Central Question]

Hi.
S7 Edge - some recorded videos cut out during playback to a black screen with a speaker logo in the middle, and from that point onwards it plays only the sound. What on earth is going on and how can i fix it?

Welcome to Android Central! What if you copy the video to your computer (or to another device) and try to play it there? Same thing?

maybe the video format was plain unsupported. try using mx player

Strange thing... this starred happening to a lot of videos so i urgently put the memory card into my laptop. Some videos didn't even appear on the memory card when i put it into my laptop and some of them copied over just fine and played perfectly.

I've now lost some videos and I'm super annoyed about that as they're family videos. I've tried some recovery software but the videos that can't be seen are just non-existent.
