Videos not playing in browser

Hello

Since i updated my p20 yesterday videos that are on websites no longer play in the browser like they used to. When i click play it asks me if i want to open or download. If i click open it then gives me the option to play it in either the huawei video player or vlc player.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: tried reinstalling samsung browser but problem still there. I tried on google chrome abd it works there so problem possibly with a setting that i cant find

Does Chrome come preinstalled on the phone? If so, see what happens if you temporarily uninstall all updates to Chrome -- it could be a bug with the latest Android System Webview (which is handled by Chrome in Nougat or above). If Chrome isn't preinstalled, then try uninstalling all updates to Android System Webview.

Chrome comes preinstalled but ive had it disabled the entire time. I enabled it and used it just to check to see if videos played on it. The browser ive always used witg no issues until now is the samsung browser.

Is there a "webview" setting within the phone that covers all browsers?

Chrome is supposed to handle webview for all apps, but if you disable Chrome, then you should be able to enable the Android System Webview app.

When you re-enabled Chrome, did you also make sure it was updated to the current version? Disabled apps always revert to their factory version.
