Viewing 3D content in 2D on Evo 3D

I have been reading about the Evo 3D like a mad man; waiting for its release. I have not come across the answer to this question though...

If I have content that was recorded in 3D from the Evo 3D, can I choose to view it in 2D or 3D on the device? I know that if I send a 3D picture, for example, to a non-3D device, it will send the 2D representation of it to the target device. What if I take a 3D picture on the Evo 3D and want to view it on the Evo 3D in 2D? If it can do this, I wonder if it's a quick and easy setting to get to.

Any one know? Thanks.

From what I understand, yes you can. The phone makes 2 versions of the picture, one in 3d and one in 2d.

The 3d pic is simply a dual layer picture that us made by the combination of the two camera, so yes, you should be able to view both the 2d and 3d versions of the pic...

Quoted for truth.

The phone saves two copies. This is proven where, if you take a 3D picture and view it with the 2D switch on, you see it in 2D. All it does is it takes just one of the two camera's picture (the top one, I anticipate) and uses that one as the 2D image.

It's been mentioned several times that the switch only manages the capture mode, so I'm not sure this is entirely correct.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I understand that the 2D information is on the Evo 3D and I understand how it creates the images. Like yourfriendmat mentioned, I do not think it has been stated that the 2D-3D switch on the phone affects the display of 3D images, rather recording. Perhaps it does, but I just have not read or watched a video that covers my question. I sure hope it's a simple toggle somewhere to view a 3D image or video in 2D should I want to. Then, perhaps I will usually snap images in 3D regardless of whether or not I want it in 3D at the time.

One thing to remember is that 3D pics only capture at 2MP (although that's still about as good as the optics will likely be able to resolve anyway) while the 2D mode gets 5MP. I would imagine there are settings to in some way disable the 3D feature, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I know, like you said, that it can be sent to someone and converted to 2D, so you may have to convert and save a duplicate to your phone. I think it will really depend on the format in which it captures the pictures. If it is some sort of special file (like "picture.3d" or something), then it may be more difficult, but if it just saves individual left and right photos (like "picture-L.jpg" and "picture-R.jpg"), then it could be quite simple.

Moral of the story: This is probably a wait-and-see type question.

On all of the Evo 3D videos I have watched, the representative states that you can watch your 3D movie from the phone to your 3D TV via HDMI. What happens if you play your 3D movie from your phone to a 2D TV? Could it convert it to display properly?
