Hello everyone,
I got a viewsonic g tablet a few days ago.
I'm not a very professinal about these stuff but i know a bit.
I was not pleased with the UI and i could not use android market. After a few searches i found that there is a way to change those.
I found your forum and read about the g tablet and ROM thing etc but i could not understand properly.
I wonder if anyone can guide and help me to make good my g tablet. To sum up i want to make this ROM thing but i couldn't find a proper guide to make it.

I will be very grateful if you can help me.

Head over to slatedroid.com. They have an excellent writeup on using nvflash and installing ROMs. They also have several ROMs to choose from. My current favorite is VEGAn-TAB 7.1 (Gingerbread Edition).

Things to take into account:

- Know which bootloader is on your gTablet. It will either be 1.1 or 1.2.
- Only install ROMs built for your bootloader. Installing a 1.2 ROM on a 1.1 bootloader = bad.
- Make sure you understand nvflash. If something goes wrong, nvflash will get your device back to stock.
- Use ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) to flash ROMs. Using the stock recovery utility will Bork the install (nvflash will get you back).

The files you need to recover the gTablet are listed in the recovery thread over at slatesroid.com. For the most part, the gTablet is quite easy to flash. If something goes wrong, nvflash can get you back to the beginning.

Root gives you permission to change the system files. Z4Root is an app that you can install onto the gTablet that will root the device.
