Vignette for Android Review

No clue - I'd try contacting the dev and ask them

unless someone else with an X can pipe in...

This and Camera ZOOM FX are the two best cameras.

Effects are VERY good on this. Camera ZOOM is better overall as it has stronger stableshot and customisation features. Also an easier UI to use.

Would definitely recommend both for Droid X.

Anyone had any problematic with the gallery specifically vignette pics ?
I have over 100 pics in the album takes forever to load and crashes constantly.... any help would be appreciated

I've noticed mine takes forever to try and populate the vignette gallery as well - I just chalked it up to my hacking of the phone....but I suppose there could be a problem with either the gallery app or vignette

I'm thinking its the gallery not sure wish there was a replacement gallery app

I have found that photos will appear faster once you actually open the vignette gallery. I am chalking it up to the size of the photos...because if you take a smaller sized photo, the gallery works just great.

Oh, and Argent, I am shooting a Canon Rebel XS (it's waaay entry level but got a bunch of lenses and takes really good photos for what I am using it for...)...

I wish Vignette had an option to only open as a photo editor, my Captivate's camera app is so much faster and I don't really use the app as a camera.

when I'm in my Gallery app and select share - I have the option to send to Vignette which allows you to just edit that way

you can also import from within the Vignette app - hit menu

Is there any reason I would keep Camera 360 if I buy Vignette? Just curious if there's a reason I would need both. I bought Camera 360 mostly just for the Tiltshift functionality, but I think Vignette has that as well, correct?

Correct - Vignette offers both Portrait and Landscape Tilt Shift effects

Thanks, that's perfect!

I primarily shoot my Nikon D300 with a D60 backup (the girlfriend uses the D60 when we go out shooting)

and thanks for the kudos - I noticed there was no review out there and plenty of people were asking about photo apps so I decided to put together a quick write up about it in hopes of helping people get the most out of their phones. I am in no way affiliated with the devs - I just like to promote apps I feel strongly about :)
Awesome software and thanks for the detailed post, very helpful....

No problem - glad I've been able to help people with this app

also please remember there is a Thanks button on all posts that you can use to give recognition to those who've helped you out :)

It helps to give back to the community and let others know where to find the helpful posts!

Is it a bug or a feature? while trying app I said it would b cool if there was a way to take picture tapping screen and I tap screen and it took pic

I like Vignette (purchased the full app), but I have two small gripes. I'm hoping these are just user error, so let me know if I'm doing something wrong.

Gallery - I guess this is really more of a Gallery issue than Vignette, but seeing as I'm using Vignette I'm stuck with this funky Gallery behavior. Why doesn't the Gallery always start at the MOST RECENT picture when opening?? When I start the Gallery, if I go into "Camera Shots" it lands at my most recent pic. If I go into anything else - including the "Vignette" folder it goes to the very first / oldest pic. It's frustrating to have to scroll all the way to the end - especially because as others have mentioned - it gets really slow once you have a lot of pics in there.

Delay - it takes a long time from taking one picture before I can take the next one. Roughly 5 seconds (EVO here). Several times I've known I've take a bad shot, so I want to go again - quickly - but I have to wait. The stock camera has that little shutter icon on the preview that you can press to get the camera back up again. I'm not seeing that in Vignette - but it'd be handy. If there's a way to get back to the camera quickly, please let me know.

Side note to my initial gripe about the Gallery - as I was playing with it writing this post, I found out that if I go to the Gallery from INSIDE of Vignette (menu... gallery...), then it DOES display the most recent pic first (still have to wait for ALL of the thumbs to load up though cuz it starts w/ the oldest thumb first. odd...)

Edit: eh, after more playing, the Gallery inside of Vignette kinda sucks... no scrolling when images are full size - no multiple deleting.

I just got an email reply from the Vignette makers - with a link to the new test version that incorporates ISO settings, Macro and a couple other enhancements on my X.

So far so good!

Macro would be nice! what kind of ISO settings are you talking about? It already has settings for Auto 100 200 400 800 and 1250

I wrote them like a month ago telling them how much I liked the app and linking them to this review and never heard back from them *shrug*

There were no ISO settings on the Droid X with Vignette. This new test version has 100, 200, 400, 800 & Auto. The macro seems nice.
