I said in an earlier post that I had to get a refurbished phone from sprint, since my viper that I got from craigslist was a fail.

Well, today I got a brand new one, no refurb. Guess they aren't selling well.

I thought I could stand gingerbread... and I guess I could have, but I saw Holo-launcher in a review vid and decided to try it.

It has been seamless on this phone. Haven't seen crazy power drain throughout the day, and it is SOOOO slick! It's like the app was made for this phone. If ICS or jelly bean is better than this, ill be surprised. (Actually, I'll be surprised if LG keeps their word!)

Between holo-launcher and swype, I have gone from ho-hum to really jazzed. I like it so much, and I've had everything from palm pre to iphone 4s. Love the capture feature too, a lot.

Now if I only got the 4g signal that the sprint map says that I'm SMACK in the thick of. Good thing I mostly use Wifi anyway. (Yes I turned LTE on, yes I updated)

so to make sure.... you do have the ZVD update in your phone info right>?

Hmm... might want to call Sprint to make sure your phone is talking with the 4g band

I've seen it flash from 3G to 4G for a second once or twice, so I'm not sure... I don't really have the time or inclination to mess with it right now, since I'm indoors most of the day on WiFi.

But I know as soon as I go on a trip, I'm going to be pissed...

Damn your unreasonably priced data plans, Verizon!
(And your superior coverage map)

Haha agreed.

Sprint's coverage maps are a bit on the generous side in terms of LTE coverage in any given place. Depending on where you live just be patient and they are upgrading towers as fast as they can. You won't be disappointed when they are done.

I spoke with the customer service people. I went to the store because they couldn't understand why I deep in 4g coverage on the map, but didn't get any. They assumed it must be a device problem.

Not the case. The store enlightened me that there was no 4g coverage in this area. I said, "that's crap, it's on the map, and it isn't even like we're on the edge of it". Their response: The map is a projection of where it WILL BE soon.

I called Sprint again and told them they were lying to keep customers, and I wasn't going to take that. I told them I wanted my "premium smartphone data" add-on, $10/mo, gone until the LTE showed up.

You see, I never cared about the add on when I was rockin' a 3g phone. I knew about it. I was mad because they intentionally misled people, and I was calling on principle.

End result; $60 credit, which is worth 6 months of the premium add-on; and if I don't have any LTE coverage by then, I can call back.

ANYONE living in an "orange" LTE area on the map and doesn't get coverage, should call, ask for a supervisor, and tell them that this is horse crap, and they get to update their map when they update their towers, not before.
