Virus installed?

Sorry for a negative first post but has anyone received the Win 7 Antispyware 2012 virus after downloading any of the following: Your Mom Rom, Xionia Clockwork, GingerKernel or the LG Android Drivers? Was trying to mod my Optimus S today and out of nowhere the Win 7 Antispyware 2012 virus pops up and trys to take over my PC. Might not be any connection but just curious if anyone else is having the same problem the past two days downloading any of those files.

You got the virus from somewhere else. No AC member is distributing malware, and to suggest otherwise is preposterous.

It's an automatic response from MS Security Essentials. It's just a warning to you that you may be moving a file to the computer and that the file may be hazardous. There's no virus or malware. MSSE just can't identify the linux file, is all.

Win7 Antispyware 2012 is a known virus. But the OP got it from somewhere else.

i just downloaded all of those files yesterday morning and have had no problems. i have windows xp and avast anti-virus

Not suggesting that it came from anyone on AC, no telling where it came from. In the process of removing it now so I can hopefully finish modding my Optimus. Thanks!

You wouldn't happen to have recently downloaded anything with BitTorrent (or similar), have you? If so, I can 99% guarantee that's where you got your virus.

What Drew said.The only virus you'd be getting around here is RageAgainstTheCage. Though it's not harmful to your windows pc and only helps you get root on your phone.

I was just watching a video on youtube about modding the optimus s when the Win 7 Antispyware virus just started closing down firefox and popping up a fake virus scan result. I have ad-aware installed but it never picked up this virus.

I would suggest downloading an app on your pc called malwarebytes. It will clean that garbage off your computer. Win7 is a hi-jacking rogue spyware app, that will eat your files and eventually take over your computer. Ps you didn't get it from the forum.

Downloaded malwarebytes earlier and it did find several files that it removed. Guess it was just a coincidence that all of this started as I was trying to mod the phone. Maybe it was Sprint trying to tell me something

Sprint is removing the CIQ virus, not installing it. That's what they were trying to tell you.

Ok, so I'm on the custom recovery menu on the phone but where do I load the Your MOM ROM from? I keep seeing options for choose a zip but your MOM wasn't in a zip file when I downloaded it. I've seen a couple of zip files in the system folder under Your MOM or was I supposed to zip the entire Your MOM download and transfer that to the SD card?

You aren't supposed to extract anything. When you download Your Mom ROM you download a ZIP file. Do NOT extract anything.

Do'h, just figured that out. Accidentally told it to reboot the phone, now stuck on just the Sprint logo. How do I reboot to the recovery menu again or turn it off? Holding the power button down isn't doing anything for me.

I have been running Windows 7 for a couple years now without any type of virus protection without any issues. in that time my PC has caught a couple colds (fake trojan horses or viruses) both times was when i let a friend on my computer and both times they were using Internet Explorer just surfing the web. All I do to fix it is restart in safe mode and run Malware Bytes. I have been using Opera since 2006 (Death to Internet Explorer) .

You might want to get some AntiVirus protection. Just because you think your computer is fine doesn't mean it is.
