Virus?

Hey guys,

When I unlocked my phone just a little while ago, I noticed the tip of a window at the bottom of the screen. It was Samsung Pay welcoming me and asking me to enter my info. Then I noticed an email titled "Samsung Pay Device Registration" with the "Get Started" info same as what I saw on the phone. The problem is, I never did this this morning. I'm just worried I might have a virus on my phone and someone is trying to get me to enter credit card info. I have the Note 10+ and I do not use any anti virus.

One thing I should mention, a friend on facebook got hacked within the past week and I received a message with a link asking if I made some video. I did hit the link but didn't enter anything further. What should I do? Should I try some anti virus app or is the safest way to go wipe the phone clean?

No I never set it up. But is that normal for it to happen on its own? I received that email saying I registered my device but I did no such thing this morning. That tip of the window at the bottom of the screen looked like that quick access bar that's on the side of the phone. Does Samsung Pay have a quick access on the bottom?

I've had the same thing happen with the last couple of phones. As mentioned by @ZOMMBIE1, it appears to be Samsung. They will annoy you to try to get you to set up Samsung Pay.

Yeah, it's just a Samsung "reminder" to get you to use Samsung Pay. They'll "remind" you about various Samsung services you can use. Honestly, if it's a users first Samsung phone, they're a good idea because there's just so many options and services that Samsung has. For those who've had Samsung phones in the past all the "reminders" can be annoying.

Samsung pay can irritatingly persistent. I use it but it is normally one of my last tweaks to the phone. On the note it started badgering me from the moment I added my Samsung account. Reason being that I have Pay set up on my Frontier S3 watch as well. Phone was feeling neglected ??????????????????

Did you open Samsung Pay before? It does get annoying by always showing up. I disabled it via PD.

Thanks for the the replies guys. I've never used it in the past and don't remember this ever happening on my prev Samsung phones. I didn't know it sets itself up as a quick access on the bottom of the screen just like the contacts bar on the right side. First thing I thought of were those annoying window pop ups on pc when you become infected with adware/malware.

I disabled the quick access on the bottom for Samsung Pay because I never use it and it was driving me bananas.

How? I use gestures for my navigation bar - and it's muscle memory to sweep up from the middle to go home, and sometimes I'm just moving so fast, that I'm already on home, and it activates Samsung Pay instead. I'd like to remove that from the bottom as well.

Open Samsung Pay, top left corner tap on the 3 lines, go to settings, go to Use Favorite Cards, and turn the option off.

People are going a little to overboard with using package disabler to turn it off. You can simply just uninstall it if you don't want to use it.

Also, Samsung Pay is > than Google Pay and all other contactless payment solutions. Yeah their point system is a joke but it's excepted almost everywhere and works where Google Pay doesn't. You can still use Samsung Pay as default and use Google Pay when the Google Pay app is open for times when you want to use Google Pay instead. To do this go to Settings, NFC and Payment, Tap and pay, Set Samsung Pay as default and turn on the option to Tap and pay with open apps.

Thank you. It's not that I don't want to use it, I just hate always accidentally opening it, so that's solved for me now!
