Does anyone have thoughts on how Verizon is going to handle VVM? I ask because Visual Voice Mail on my Nexus 6p with verizon is a mess.

As far as I am aware the Visual Voice maill app was not named as one of the Verizon pre-installed apps.

With a poorly coded app. Get Fi.

Fi with a family plan is not doable as not all members of my family are Android enthusiast.

I'll try it out when my phone arrived Friday. Google voice has been my only choice with my 5x.

I also asked in the sticky... They were on Verizon so maybe the AC editors can tell us.

Come back and update us, please! I will likely be moving to Verizon out of necessity and I'd definitely like to know how that works out.

Since the Google store version of the phone supposedly supports both HD voice and WiFi calling and the Verizon version allows you to uninstall their bloatware, I find it hard to believe you wouldn't be able to install the Verizon Visual Voicemail app from Google Play and have it work.

Except Fi is not ready for prime time depending on where you live. No voice+data on Tmobile or Sprint in my area of grand rapids. Plus if you use any volume of data at all then any of the carriers are cheaper than Fi. We're getting 16GB/m + rollover on Verizon for $96/month and we use about 6gb (that's the price available to anyone today, no a grandfathered plan, and includes only a $14/m work discount). It would be $95 on a new family plan for my wife and I to do Fi with 6gb of data, and that's assuming I was even willing to accept a truly sub-par (in my area) Tmobile/Sprint network. "Sorry important business call, I'll have to hangup to download your attachment because I save $1/m being on Google Fi " or "Wait....I need to drive around to hit the right Tmobile tower so I can get voice and data, hang on there mr. client". :). Even if I was saving a significant amount of money cell service is one of those "just freaking work when I need it" products I buy, and Fi is not a "just freaking work when I need it" product.

Hopefully I'll have mine tomorrow so I'll check it out. It doesn't look like the Visual Voicemail app is in the app store so if it's not installed on the device when you activate the SIM I'm not sure how it gets on the phone unless calling voicemail the first time pushes it down to a device?

I wouldn't know. I live in Los Angeles and have never had an issue.

Maybe Verizon will finally support the visual voicemail built into the stock android dialer?

According to Verizon's website, under Support, Services and Apps, Voicemail, Basic Visual Voicemail, it says all smartphones are compatible and that you just open the standard voicemail app and subscribe and accept terms. I don't see any reason this wouldn't work on the Pixel.

Hopefully it's that easy. Normally their "compatible" smartphones all have the Verizon Visual Voicemail app baked into their ROM. That won't be the case here. I have a good feeling they will have a solution though... as much as they are hyping this device.

The reply i got back from Andrew Martonik in the sticky thread was that "You can download any Verizon app and it'll work just fine"

But my for sure answer will be on Thursday night. Hopefully someone beats me to it that get their delivery earlier than myself.

Great news! It appears that it is using Google's own Visual Voicemail that is part of their dialer app!
