Hi,

The volume in my voicemail app is too low.

Even if I turn the volume all of the way up on my phone the volume in the voicemail app does not change. It is only loud enough for me to tell that the message is playing.

The volume and volume control in other apps on my phone work just fine.

I went to Google Playstore to make sure it is up to date. It is.

Any clues about how to fix this would be appreciated.

Steve

I didn't see your phone listed in your signature (at least on mobile). What phone are you using, and is this an app that came with your phone?

Yes, this is an app that came with my phone. Sadly, it has a lot of messages in it.

This is what is in my signature:

Android version: 13
Samsung Galaxy A32 5G
Model: SM-A326U
Hardware version: REV1.0
Software version: A326USQSCDWL1
Vendor/Service Provider: Boost Mobile

Do you use the phone app from Google? I use the voice mail app from Google, and it works pretty flawlessly, except when it botches up the transcription.

I use the phone app that came with the phone

"Phone" version 14.7.09 ( latest)
Call version 14.5.00.50

Is the voicemail playing over the earpiece speaker only? If there's no option to turn on speakerphone while playing the voicemail back, it might just be intended to be listened to through the earpiece. Or is it even too low to hear when you put the earpiece up to your ear?

No.

I plugged my earphones into the phone. The audio did not travel over it.

Sorry, when I said "earpiece speaker", I meant the part of the phone you put up against your ear when making a call (as opposed to earbuds).

If I put the flat surface of my phone up against my ear, I can hear the messages.

You mean the back of the phone? Or the screen?

When you adjust the volume while the message is playing, is it the Media volume slider that appears, or the Phone volume slider? Try bringing up the menu with all of the sliders, and make sure both the Media and Phone volume sliders are turned up.

I meant the screen.

I attempted to adjust the volume with the volume buttons on the phone, and that is the only volume slider that appeared.

How do I find the menu with all of the volume sliders?

There should be a 3-dot menu button, or maybe a settings icon that looks like a bunch of sliders, that shows up when you press the Volume button. Tap that. (Sorry, I don't have my Galaxy A32 5G handy right now, so I can't test it directly.)

Go to settings>sounds and vibration>volume you should see the sliders
Make sure your volume button not set for media instead
