A while back, I was able to touch the microphone in the google search bar, and say "Call Joe Jones work", and it would dial from my contacts. This doesn't seem to work anymore. Now, it just brings up my browser, and does a google search with the words.

Any ideas how I can get it back to the old way?

Thanks

Are you using "Voice Search" instead of "Voice Dialer"... Either way, when I use "Voice Search" and say something like "Call John Smith", it gives me the option to call rather than it searching the web.

Voice Search is much better than Voice Dialer IMHO. Voice Dialer just brings up a list of phone numbers for the person... Voice Search actually opens a dialog that will call that person for you on the number you requested.

randy-- are you sure that the number you're trying to call them on actually exists in their contact profile? I can see that Android might have a problem calling Joe Jones at work if a "work" number wasn't specified for him-- that might be why it's initiating a web search.

Also, could your phone have inadvertently gotten set up to expect language input in Spanish instead of English? If so, that might be confusing the phone and causing the problem. It's a very basic idea, but sometimes it's the basic simple stuff that creates the issues... Best of luck with finding an answer for this though.

I think the problem might have been that I was syncing contacts with CompanionLink to Outlook. As soon as I changed back to syncing with Google, the thing started working again.

If so, that would really suck, since I already paid for the CL desktop software.
