Voice Call Audio Resolution

I have replaced the phone twice and each one has exhibited this problem. The second was worse than the first, and this third one may trump them both. The EVO 3D and its horrible battery is looking like an amazing piece of technology compared to this poor excuse for a phone. I would not have accepted this in 2001, let alone 2011.

My Photon arrives today and I pray it doesn't have this problem! You are right, my 3VO makes calls *consistently* even though it may sound like crap. A phone really should be a PHONE first!

I haven't had this problem. But some people who have manually installed the leaked maintenance release have reported that it resolved the problem. So you could try that. You'll need to root first, unless you want to wait for Sprint's official OTA update.

Actually, one of the latest reports from XDA was that MR5 did not repair the issue.

Do you think this might be related to the phone getting confused between the SIM card and the HDMA service? I wonder if my troubles with this are related to having aGerman SIM in the slot. Of course, I had an problem before I left the country, too, but I wonder if pulling the SIM might do thie trick.

Any suggestions? I plan to replace my phone, but I realized I ought to put the stock SIM in and remove my SD card before doing that, and I don't have the stock SIM with me today.

I am currently in L.A. on vacation..just left Sprint downtown replacing my 3rd Photon....already have had the audio issue on the first 2calls I have received! This is now officially a FAIL!! Seriously Moto....a phone should operate as a phone 1st..Guys I DON'T want to go back to the Evo 3D....grrrrrrr :(

This will get fixed. But seriously, this phone has already whipped my old 3D's butt in all aspects, including just being a phone.

Every new thing has problems. I agree that QC needs to be better, but seriously though....you go and buy a new model car and see what happens. I guarantee you, you will be in the shop having something fixed or there will be some sort of recall. Besides, moto doesn't make the phones themselves, they are outsourced so be mad at the manufacturer of the phone itself for shoddy QC.

I got the phone July 31 and have had this issue multiple times. I assume it's short on memory and not cleaning itself up well enough to run phone app ... the first time I got online with Sprint and they said they did something to reconnect the phone, had me reboot - it worked upon reboot, however it now seems that simply the act of reboot was the critical factor.

The other issue I have is the 'car dock' app not detecting it was disconnected, and it's not running via an app that can be killed through the android app mgmt service. So, that needs a hard reboot also.

I had both of these issues. The second was big for me.

I miss the phone since taking it back, but couldn't live with the problems. Moto, please fix these issues and I'll re-buy.

Just got my Photon yesterday and I LOVE it! However, this issue I am having is during a phone call, the audio will go silent for about 5-10 secs at various times throughout the call. I guess that is better than not hearing someone at all when they call me but still not the ideal situation.

Anyone experiencing this one?

I'm going to try to trade it in today.

I had a weird new problem today. The battery completely discharged, quite quickly, for no apparent reason. I plugged it in and it's back up to 8%.

I hadn't done anything with it that I haven't done most other days.

Anyone else see that?

Same issue here.... Can't get it charged and "phone idle" is at 55%!!

...nothing else is drawing more than 10 to 12%....

Sprint is now suggesting I give up on it - It is turning out to be as problematic as the Pre.... 2 different reps said they have been fielding more calls on the Photon than any other phone since the Pre. As of last night they are saying a fix is in the works - but, AT&T has been saying that about the Atrix since June...

Re-activating my Pre.... so dissapointed.

I felt the same way about both Photons I've tried for 2-3 days - then the problems started...... hope you have better luck.

Sprint customer service (webchat) said I have a hardware issue and must bring it into the store to be swapped.

Got a new phone. We shall see if that solves the problem. The Sprint rep who sold me the phone, and who replaced it, had never heard of the problem. She says they have sold a ton of the phones, and she wants one as soon as her update comes up. So I doubt it's all that common.

Reinstalling everything, and setting stuff up again is a pain. Maybe I should look into backup software.

Yes, what is the best "complete" backup software out there? I'd like to fully restore my saved backup on a new phone.
