I currently have the Gear S2 3G version on Verizon and they voice recognition has all but stopped working. It knows when I'm talking but doesn't know when I'm done so I can't reply or text via voice. Was thinking of upgrading to the Frontier but was curious how folks who have it feel about the voice recognition...is it good? Or should I wait for the S4 and hope it has Bixby?

Same problem with the Gear Frontier. Just stopped working months ago. One would think they would have fixed this by now

Switch voice to UK English and it will work assuming your referencing English

Yep. The only way I've been able to find to make it work is to do the "UK English" work-around.

Hard to believe that Samsung hasn't been able to reproduce this issue and resolve it in the many months it has been this way.

Oh, and learn to enjoy the fact that your responses will now contain UK spellings like "colour".

This is making me lean toward the LG Sport. Sucks because the Frontier looks so much nicer. Plus I can only get the 4G version in the Gear thanks to Verizon. Grrr.

For the UK work-around, is that just changed on the watch or both phone and watch? I want to give it a shot but want to make sure I change it in the right place.

I'm actually back on regular English and it's been working good, however it not sothing I use on a regular basis

Having just reset my watch in the last week, and having just now tried using US English to perform a voice-reply to an existing text-message, I can report that it still does not work for me. Changing back to UK English returned the functionality immediately.

Not sure how yours is working with US English, but can you confirm that this is for a reply to an existing message? Replying with voice to a message immediately from the first notification does work for me with both language settings. It is only selecting a previously recevied message, and attempting to use voice-reply, that fails to work with US English (for me.)

When you refer to 4 G are you talking LTE. If so grab it and don't look back. Trust me, you'll get into the habit of answering calls on your phone and running errands without it. I too, Grasshopper, was a skeptic.

Yes, I'm referring to LTE. I currently have the S2 3G version so I am already accustomed to using the watch without my phone nearby.

Only reply to a new message, haven't tried on a previous one
