Voice Dial

Can someone tell me how to get voice dial to work better? The voice search works really well, but voice dial is awful. I recently purchased a plantronics bluetooth headset that has voice dial feature, but the voice dial never seems to recognize what I am saying, even without the bluetooth headset. Is there someway of fine tuning it? Thanks.

I have a Jawbone that works well if I enunciate and pause.
Call... Mom... On... Mobile.
Probably 90% sucessful. Dialling digits does NOT work.
