I just recently reverted back to V9 stock after accidentally letting the OTA happen.
I did reverted before with no issues.. ok one the gmail app force closes.. so this time.
its saying I have a mandatory voice mail upgrade. I got to voice mail...settings... check for upgrades... it says i do. hit ok. and it gives me a network error every time. and the icon is stuck on my notification shade.. any idea on how to get it to update without updating to VC/VD? or get rid of the notification. I can care less if I have the newer Voice Mail?

and help appreciated thanks!

any particualar reason you wanting to stay on V9 ? if its just for tether, i would say just update to VD then root, then install Xionia recovery, then flash ThundeRom, or Nameless. Are you connected to a wifi network when getting the error or the sprint 3g network?

Well the first time I did the OTA and lost root and all that goes with it.. Thanks to this forum. I figured out how to revert and both my wife and I are happy with V9 and root.

Since we both reverted we both get the OTA update message. it pops up every once in a while.. some how over the weekend on a trip I must of hit the "update" button and when I looked later I was on VC and my phone was so slow and buggy. Like opposite of what it was on V9 I actually had to update to VD to get it somewhat fast again. but still buggy

Tethering is one reason, but the big reason is Titanium back up.. I need that app to force move programs.. I am constantly running out of memory.. I figured out little tips to help that.. like signing out of facebook now and then will get you more on board memory.. but Titanium just lets me use more apps.

I am pretty much a noob so I was reading up on how to root the VD, and add the custom recovery but I am confused.. I don't want to brick my phone if I need to go back to stock... but I am thinking about taking the chance.. I had a samsung moment and that seemed so easy to add the custom recovery, and roms and such, the optimus seems more difficult to do a real root.. but I am thinking about taking the chance

and I am using 3g not wifi.. still giving me the network error..
