Voice messages not recording

I have a new Honor 6a and I installed whatsapp. I can make video calls and audio calls but when I record a voice message it arrives completely silent. I have tried sending to a few people and it is the same with them all. Can anyone help with this weird issue please?

Try using the memo function of Call Recorder - one of the recording methods should work.

Actually it is not working on allo either. Looks like a phone issue. Probably have to return the phone as faulty. Grrr
