I've been messing with the voice recognation feature to dictate texts, FB status updates, in Google maps, etc.... I am VERY impressed by the accuracy.

This is definitely a huge plus for the GN and will change the way I use the device.

Give it a try if you haven't. Just click the little microphone and talk away.

I concur. It is quite an improvement over anything I have used on other Android devices. The ability to talk to long periods, stop, punctuate - all with accuracy - is pretty astounding. It works very very well to this point.

What am I missing? It's not recognizing most of my contacts (I've been testing with "Send text to..."). One time it wrote "to mom" as the body of the text, rather than the recipient! I tried looking at the Help but it wasn't helpful.

I haven't really tried "voice commands".... I've mostly just tested the dictation capabilities. It's probably over 90% accurate for me.

I agree. It's great for messaging and apps. Like a dream come true. Now we just need to get it working in the browser.

Unfortunately, I have found that it only works with the stock ICS keyboard mic, and I am addicted to the Swiftkey keyboard!

Mine has been quite accurate but really slow (even on wifi). I get "waiting for results" for 20-30 seconds after I say something...

The mic on the swiftkey is a pain because you have to long press the mic button. Otherwise the keyboard part is great.

I went back to the stock keyboard from SwiftKey specifically because I use the voice transcription a lot. I miss SwiftKey but the new stock keyboard is growing.

The voice recognition is amazing. For anybody who doesn't know, in the settings for the voice input, you can elect to submit your voice searches to a Google server to improve accuracy. After having done this a few times, I almost never even have to both proof-reading what I say. It's always right. The only times it messes up is when I am trying to say something off the wall.

And I've also had perfect results with the voice commands. I think my favorite so far is "note to self." That allows me to send a quick email to my gmail account reminding me to do something later. It's very useful for when I'm brainstorming at work.

Is there a list of commands somewhere? I never would have known about "note to self".

Press the voice input button from the Google search bar widget, then press the help button when the prompt pops up. It will tell you everything you need to know.

Ditto! Great feature! I need to see the commands too. Are they written anywhere? I need to study them usually for a day or two! :)

I fiddle with the "voice command" a bit, but I have used it for dictation alot. Compared to my fascinate, this is leaps and bounds better. I would argue it is aronud 90% accurate for me. also I have to say, I love the new keyboard and the autocorrect sofar as correctly guessed what I wanted 95% of the time. Much better over the older froyo crap I was using.

i agree, it is very accurate. Now we need someone to rote responces to a few thousand comands and we have Siri! Or Iris?

Yeah, voice dictation works really well in ICS. Never used it before, but now I find myself using it a lot.
