Voice Recognition

not to bring up a dead thread but i fixed this....

What the problem was was that I was signing into a Umail account first. When I used a Google account for the first time, it was under my school license, and that screwed everything up (I would sign in on my phone with a different password than I would sign into on my Google account and it still worked on the same e-mail). Because of this I never actually had a Google account until I actually created one to buy Market apps. From now on, I have to sign into only my Gmail account first and not Umail (I'm actually in the process on migrating everything to my Gmail account now from Umail...including backing up apps I downloaded from the Market that somehow got saved under my Umail account and not Gmail account). Now, under my Dashboard there is the Speech setting.

Google really needs to fix this, as I know there are a lot of people with these problems who don't know anything about rooting, backing up apps, or what the difference is between a Umail and Gmail account...

Great! I'm glad you finally were able to resolve your problem. I looked everywhere on the internet and came up with zilch. Congrats. So does your voice recognition work properly now?

It actually worked decently before, but if it worked OK for me before then it should be amazing now lol.

Yea i'm glad i figured this out. the way I caught was I was recognizing that I was entering two different passwords for the same Umail account, so it was like i actually had 3 accounts I was using (even though i was signing into just 2). The only two apps I've purchased from the Market are Asphalt and Need for Speed, so I'm about to wipe my phone, sign into my Umail, back up those apps with astro to sdcard, wipe again, sign into my correct Gmail, import my calendar and contacts, and then restore my apps from both the market and my SDcard.

What's crazy is that I purchased those two games under my Gmail account. However, when I wipe my phone and sign into my Gmail account, those paid apps don't show up in the Market for free. They even show that I've purchased them under my Gmail account Dashboard but not my Umail dashboard, but when I sign into my Umail on my phone they show up in the Market. I've heard a lot of people complain about this, but luckily I know how to back those apps up.

I'm glad you finally fixed this problem. I didn't realize that you didn't have a GMail account which would make sense since this phone relies on Google everything.

well it's weird because technically I did have a Google account...right? I signed in with my phone on it, downloaded and purchased apps (that I can now longer get the purchased ones back).

I use MobileGo to back everything up to my computer. If you have a problem you just hit the restore button and it will put everything back on your phone. You can even access it wirelessly instead of using a usb cord.

unfortunately, I can't play the games. I backed them up and downloaded them, but they will not play because of licensing conflicts....
