voice search not working on Thunderbolt

OK, so I watched the YouTube video that pops up when you select Help in Google Search. Looks cool, all the stuff you can do by voice. Only problem is I can't get "Send text to" or "email" to work. It all shows up in the body of the text/email with no addressee. Anyone having a similar problem/find a solution? I know this has been an issue on other platforms. Thought they might have fixed it with the latest release. Thanks.
