Voice to text lagging after 8.0 upgrade

After the Android 8.0 update last week on my Moto Z Force, the speech recognition/voice to text feature is lagging terribly on any apps that I previously used it on successfully. You have to allow it to "listen" until it decides to input the text. If you stop "listening" as before, it will not input any text. This happens on WiFi or data and on all apps that allow voice text input.
