Voice to text punctuation issues

I swear I used to be able to say "period" and my voice input would put a period. I have a Flip3 and it is totally updated. I've tried Samsung voice to text, I've tried Google voice to text -- it won't do "comma", it won't do "period" -- it WILL do "exclamation point".

I've tried everything I can think of, I use voice to text a lot but going back and deleting the word "period" is getting old.

Are there any solutions I can try that anyone knows about? I just don't know why things work fine for a long time and then all of a sudden, they don't.

Now with bard transitioning over to Gemini? Should it be improved? Ive been using Gemini + Google 1 now for a week and it's pretty amazing.
