Voice-to-text working great for emails but horrific for texts

For a long time I used a BlackBerry KeyONE, which is still running Android 7. I was using Verizon's Message+ (also called Messages) for texting. When I'd do voice-to-text for a text message it was horribly inaccurate, but when I did it for emails it was superb.

Then, in the past few days, I changed my Samsung S9 from being my secondary backup phone to being my main driver. It's running Android 9. One of the first things I did was to try the voice-to-text for text messages, hoping it would be okay. It is not!

In fact, if anything it's worse than what I was getting on the KeyONE with Android 7.

And to check things, I tried voice-to-text for text messages on the S9 with both Verizon's Message+ app and with the default Messages app that came with the phone, and both were equally horrible. And then I tried voice-to-text on the S9 for composing email, and it works practically flawlessly!

Same as with the KeyONE, with texts it's horrific and with emails it's phenomenal.

What's up with this?

Is there not a way to get voice-to-text to do text messages as well as it does emails?

What keyboard are you using?
Are you accessing voice to text from your keyboard or are you using the google voice typing option?

Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm new to this forum and didn't realize until now that I wasn't automatically subscribed to be notified of replies.

I'm using the default keyboard and accessing voice-to-text by hitting the mic icon in the given app (Verizon Messages, default Google Messages, or "Inbox" by BlackBerry for sending an email - formerly called Hub).

I know, right?! Several forums in which I participate, do not auto subscribe to a thread that I've created. Why would that not be the default?

Anyways...have you checked the settings in this area?
(your actual settings locations may be a bit different, depending on carrier and Android version)
