Voicemail for 4a 5G on Verizon (not a Verizon phone)

My mom just purchased an unlocked 4a 5G to use with her Verizon pre-paid account. We didn't feel that paying the extra $140 was worth it. What does she use now for voicemail now that she doesn't have any of the Verizon apps? Are there any other Verizon apps/services that we need to put on her phone. I'm on another carrier, so I'm clueless regarding Verizon.

Thanks!

Phone by Google is preinstalled. The voicemail icon is the bottom right. It may require set up if not already; I can't comment on that as I have been on the Red V for decades. Hope this helps.

I hope she realized that she will not get the 5G from VZW on that phone as they use different 5G on the unlocked version.

She will in fact get 5G, just not Ultrawide band; unless she is in one of a handful cities where available.

Actually, my mom isn't interested in 5G, she just wanted a better phone with a bigger screen. And I did notice on her phone the other day that it did say 5G at the top. Her plan is only for the 4G/LTE or whatever Verizon offers. I'm on AT&T (Cricket).

Open the Phone app, tap Menu>Settings>Voicemail>Advanced Settings>Service, and make sure Verizon or Your Carrier is listed. Also go to the Setup and make sure *86 is the Voicemail Number.

Thank you. Her voicemail seems to work fine. I was under the assumption that Verizon had a special app for voicemail, one that would transcribe the messages. Evidently she was using the stock VM on her previous phone too, which was a VZ-branded phone.
