Voicemail/ hangouts issue with new nexus 6

Not totally sure I'm posting in the right place, but since I didn't have the problem with my nexus 5 here goes. I have the nexus 6 setup to use my google voice for voicemail. When a call comes in, and I decline it, I immediately get an incoming hangouts call. If I decline, or don't answer that one, then it finally rolls over to voicemail. How do I set things up, so that it skips the hangouts call and just goes straight to voicemail?

Hangouts-Settings-Account settings. Uncheck "incoming phone calls" under Google Voice.

It was already unchecked, but signing out and back in to hangouts seems to have made it all better. Thanks for the help.
