Currently have a Nexus 5 running Android Lollipop and after someone left me a voice message, I have been unable to get rid of the voicemail icon, even though I don't have any messages at the present time. Suggestions? Thank you very much in advance.

PS: I already tried leaving/deleting a new voice message, icon remains.

I'm having the exact same problem. This only started since I upgraded to Android 5.0. I didn't have this problem with 4.4.4
I also tried leaving myself a message and deleting it and staying on the line for a little while before disconnecting.

Does anyone know of a fix? I assume this could be a bug in 5.0

I just posted about this in the Lollipop forum. Same issue here. To make it go away I have to call my voicemail again, wait a second & hang up. It definitely seems to be a bug among other things.. Smh..

I have the same issue, started after updating to Lollipop

For the time being, I fix it by going into

Settings --> Apps -- > All

There will be three apss named Phone, I go into the second one and hit "Foce Stop".

Clears the icon, but it will reappear and get stuck if I reboot my phone.

Only has happened three times on my Nexus 5 with Lollipop. Out of about four dozen calls, those three times I ended up calling my voice mail and wait about three seconds, then hangup, the icon soon disappears.

I have had this problem also on both of phones, a galaxy nexus and a nexus 5. All I do is power off the phone and turn it back on. I just always blamed it on the sprint network.

Long Press the notification > select app info (the phone most likely) > Force Close > Notification goes away

I've had this problem almost since the debut of Kit Kat. In that time, I have had multiple Nexus 5's, one carrier-locked from Sprint and one completely unlocked from the Play Store. From activation on Sprint, both times, I have had a non-dismissible notification reading "New voicemail (2) / Dial ___-___-____" and I can't seem to tie it to Google Voice or anything in particular at all. The only simple fix I could find was Mario Zumbado's (which works fine for a few hours at a time but is still extremely annoying to have to do) but a month or two ago I came across a solution that told people to do something along the lines of decompiling their OS/Google Dialer, finding a single line of code, and changing a number from "02" (whatever number voicemails were appearing) to "00". A bunch of people on that thread said that it worked, but I had just sideloaded Lollipop and I didn't want to try anything risky, so I didn't. I'll look for that one and come back if I find it.
