Voicemail Icon [how to clear]

I have a vm icon in notification bar. I cannot figure out hiw to clear it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Its verizon phone and I use gv.

I know this comes off as silly but you have checked your voice mail on the device and reviewed any and all waiting messages on the associated number ?

Stupid me I swear that when I try retirve my vm by calling in it doesnt let me. Maybe because I use google voice. Basically I cant get to the verizon vm. Only google voice but it doesnt clear the Icon. Not sure what to do.

You need to switch back to verizon vm, *710. Then call *86 or your own number to acces carrier VM. After you have emptied your mail box and the icon is gone dial *71+gvnumber to re enable gv.

i dialed *71 it hung up quick i then tried *86 but i couldnt get to my voicemail?

Call you own number, you can get into your voice mail that way also.

i tried it from my phone and another phone. i hit # or * nothing prompt for the PW so i can hear and delete the messages that cause the icon to appear on the notification bar.
