voicemail notification

I've used NoLED which has notifications (icons or dots) with screen off (technically not), including Voicemail. Works very well, and you can modify and adjust to your preferences, easily turned on or off at will using a widget. Be warned if you run a stock launcher, it sometimes has problems with the Samsung "Talkback" settings. I use Nova (have always loved it) and with secondary Launchers such as Nova, Go Launcher etc.. they will not experience the problems. Check it out.

All I was after was a notification of some sort that I have a voice mail. I currently don't get anything and have no idea I have a voicemail. If phone turned on or back in service just like getting other notifications of SMS or whatever it would be good to have a voicemail notification. The cassette icon B Diddy mentioned would be fine. I don't get anything. Can't work out what is missing.

I havent had a voice-mail notification on any phone since gingerbread on my LG. I had asked a similar question and was told it's a Verizon issue.

The cassette icon is only visible when the screen is on or in lock screen, not visible when screen is off (phone asleep) Try No Led, it's free.

Well that dynamic reminder could work but once again it doesn't do anything for voicemails, neither does the other one. Crazy. I cannot understand this. The voice thing I put on there seems to work best so far, only problem is it keeps announcing you have a voicemail until you go to voicemail and listen to it, cannot just dismiss it.

I am having the same issue with my Galaxy s5. Missing important calls and voicemails regarding job opportunities. I can be holding the phone in my hand (ringer is on) and not even know that I have a missed call or voicemail until I see the tape icon. It's crazy. You should be able to see a notification that you've missed a call instead of listening to your voicemail only to find out you have 3 or more missed calls/voicemails. What can you do to fix this? I'd hate to go back to iPhone over an issue that shold work on ANY phone.

It has to do with the carrier IMO, it has been going on for a long time for me too.

and NOT just with the S5.

I wear a trucker's headset when I am out and about. You do NOT miss calls wearing a BT headset.

but, I have had that voicemail thing pop up while I am driving.

I feel like it is the carrier's cell sites temporarily "loosing you" , so it can't ring your phone, and then diverts the call to voice mail.

it is a PITA for sure, but no way to fix it as far as I can see.

Re: Galaxy S5 voice mail notification - Check out Heads-up app on Google Play. It's very good with many settings options to personalize just how you like. I have the voice mail notification showing who left a message near the top of my lock screen. It stays put till I click 'clear.' Very good app. :)

I called Verizon and Samsung. That is a Manufacture setting from Samsung. They are making the S6 when you clear the notification the voicemail icon disappears. Samsung is not changing it. Need to complain.

I know this thread is almost a year old, but I have to agree that it's idiotic that a voicemail alert is so hard to find! Heck, when you get a text, it's plastered on the lock screen and every other screen until you close it or view it. But an essential tool like Voicemail (it IS a PHONE, after all!!!) is relegated to a tiny icon up in the notification bar. If a family member has an emergency they're better off texting you rather than calling!
