Voicemail question

Thanks. That setting was already off, I cleared cache and data for thos 3 phone apps. Will test later

Yes I restarted phone. My Carrier is Google Fi. I've been emailing with them too, but I am sure they will end up blaming it on Samsung and call it a day.

I kinda solved this issue now by enabling voicemails over sms and disabled built in Phone app notifications. This also gives me transcript of voicemail in text msg

Hopefully my OCD won't kick in knowing somewhere there are ton of voicemail notifications :)

That number isn't tied directly to the carrier. It's an unread count for the app. If no voicemails are showing "unread" in the phone app, it may be a bug in the phone software. The really odd thing is that with Pie the notification dots became tied to the notification shade rather than something within the app itself such that when a notification was swiped away from the shade the count on the app badge would go down (if only one of multiple was swiped away) or the badge would go away (if the last one for that app was swiped away).

Phone app doesn't have voicemail client. It's just able to send those notifications when voicemail arrives.
There is some native Voicemail app that comes with Samsung but it has no difference if I enable or disable it

Yesterday somehow count was reset to 0 and now they are piling up again

This seems like some sort of server side issue not updating correctly. My iPhone does the same thing. I have a missed call that I've had for six months somehow. Heck, I haven't even had a sim in my iPhone since getting the Note in August.
