Volume buttons now control media volume instead of ringtone volume

Prior to the Marshmallow update I could adjust my Ringtone using the volume buttons on the side of my Note 5, but now they only control Media volume. Is there a way to change it back to controlling Ringtone volume?

If an app is open that is currently playing media, then it should default to controlling Media volume. If nothing is currently playing media, then it should control Ringtone volume. Are you saying that even when your phone is doing nothing, the volume buttons still only control Media?

Issue is resolved. I did try closing all apps but the issue persisted until I did a restart. Makes no sense as to why a restart worked when all apps being closed didn't.

Glad you figured it out. How were you closing apps? Next time this happens, go to the App Manager, then Running Apps, and see what is currently open in RAM. (Running App might be in a different location on your phone--this is something manufacturers sometimes move around in the settings menu.)
