volume switch mute ?

Hi i have a galaxy s3 and when i get a incoming phone call my hand keeps hitting the volume switch on the side of the phone and muting the ringtone - can i turn this off ?

I am having the same problem. Happens at least once a day. I will be in front of the computer at work and get an email notification on my PC but not on my phone, that's usually how I find it's in mute. My old phone did not have mute and I can't find any way to get rid of it.
