Accomplishment in that it was able to rise above the Apple fanboys spamming the votes out of pride, yes.

But on its own merits, it deserves to be called 2009's Smartphone of the Year. Not only did it put Motorola back on the map, it brought Android to the top of the pile (thanks to Verizon too)! The "Second Coming" of Android, if you will.

The iPhone 3GS (while it's a great smartphone), did absolutely nothing of major note in 2009 other than continuing to sell well. The phone itself is just another iteration of the same OS with a few some better hardware. Evolutionary, rather than revolutionary.

i checked today and could't believe the droid rose in gadget & smartphone. when this first came out i voted 5 times, glad to see my efforts were not wasted.

i think people, palm Symbian whoever just want to see the iphone overthrown

Yea, I don't know why people still like the iPhone. They haven't changed **** with that phone,the thing still sucks + its on Att, that pretty much kills the deal for me + I have an ipod touch already, who need an iphone.

Well, in 2012, the year the worlds supposed to end there is a Monday Feb. 20th. Maybe it will FINALLY end then???

Lol well i think they made that typo on purpose.... see if the iphone was winning they would say it was a typo and they would end it saturday the 20th....but since the iphone is losing they are hoping it will take over by monday!
