Hey guyz,

I made the mistake of updating my S4 to 4.4.2 (not that the 4.3 I had was great) today and ever since then the VPN connection wont work on WIFI (Dint try the 3G). The VPN gets connected (it shows connected on the notification bar) but no data transfer takes place and the internet cant be accessed anymore (Max data transfer is 0.1 MB).

The VPN as well as the internet is working fine because my laptop is still connecting and there seems no problems there. The same system was working when I had 4.3. I tried clearing the cache of Google Services Framework (I found out that from another thread on this website) but of no use.

Any ideas???

Yes, the same thing in here... Everything works fine but the VPN after 1 or 2 megas of traffic and go down, it shows connected in bar , but no connection with server :(

Someone can help...

I aprecciate, and i believe , many others , with this problem, will be thanks .

Got the same issue here in China, with VPN provider StrongVPN. What is weird is that the VPN seems connected, works with Google+, Twitter website, but not Facebook APP, Facebook on mobile browser, Yahoo and several other websites which you have to use VPN to get access in China.
Seems it is Android 4.4.2 issue, not sure if it is confirmed and when Samsung will provide a fix to that.

The KitKat version introduces several bugs on VPN module and other functionalities.
You can perform the downgrade of your S4 to the previous Jelly Bean 4.3 version, waiting Google will fix all these issues.

Ok, I'm having the EXACT same issue, in every detail. I realized that PPTP VPN on my S4 (with the 4.4.2 upgrade) no longer works and displays the same behavior as yours (it connects fine, but no transfer, showing 0.1 - 0.2 MB). I know it USED to work. I am able to connect fine via a laptop and even able to connect fine when tethered through the S4. It's the native VPN client that no longer seems to work.

So, it's definitely the phone. Is there a fix? Thanks.

Isn't it great that Goggle has given us an OS that kills VPN! Then, when it is discovered and reported all over the place, nothing...crickets.

This has pretty much wasted a few hundred dollars I spent on a tablet as I need VPN.

Is there any place that public can submit android bugs officially?
(Not that that would do any good.)
